Conventions of a Metal Album Cover
- No matter what genre of music, the album cover will always have an image at the front which is the center of attention. This is used to make the album more attractive to buy as the producers will earn a lot more out of a CD than a download.
- Their will always be the albums name on the front in a metal album. This is because they want the existing fans to be able to identify the album as belonging to that particular band.
- The artists name/logo will always be shown on the front, however it will not always be obvious like on most other albums, instead it will most likely be embedded within the artistic image that is portrayed in the front cover.
- The Image that is center of attention will be very artistic, most likely comic style artwork as the focus of metal albums tend to be more on the picture.
- Sometimes to make the album more classy the album covers image will be embossed so that people believe the album is a classy one and are more tempted to buy it.
- The picture is usually very deep as well and sometimes disturbing as the images may be very gory or bloody. This helps indicate the sort of music that people will most likely be listening to if they listen to this album.
- The album cover tends to have very dark colors as again they want to show which sort of music is on the front.
- The album cover is nearly all the time very masculine showing thing like: Skulls, Motorbikes, nude women and either lightning or fire. They are also satanic showing very dark symbols that reflect on different religions.
