There are various album covers in the indie genre that all use similar themes; as part of the development process for our digi-pack it is important to realize that we must first research the different products that are available. The firs product on the top left corner, uses the sun to make a high key lighting effect. It also makes the artist look like a silhouette, which means we cant see any facial features of the artist.

He is also crouching, suggesting his laid back attitude towards what he is doing, it also implies the music is laid pack. The name and title of the album and artist is written sideways, implying the album is homemade and totally been produced by the artist. If we look at Justin Nozuka's album he also uses the sun to make him look like a silhouette, this seems to be a re-occurring feature in the indie genre. However looking at his album cover helps us to realize that not all indie albums have to look homemade and genuine. His takes a professional approach as his whole cover is very neat as well as tidy. We again see the artist, however this time we see some of his features, body and facial. Ben Howard's album cover is very different to the rest. The album cover is him diving head first into a pool, perhaps implying a moral message. This would also reflect on his music as people would think his music is deeper than it sounds. Again the sun is shining through, this is certainly a main aspect of indie genre album, we need to consider whether we are going to have this in our album as it seems to be a main convention. His title also stands out as the main feature of the cover, this may also suite our cover as it makes the album look a lot more approachable for the audience. Jason Mraz's album cover, on the other hand, has a completely different approach. He has a very simple cover but has completely gone against every indie convention that is commonly used on many other album covers. Instead he uses a sketched image of himself, this implies to the audience that it is all written and produced by him. This can be seen as a technique to attract indie fans to the cover.
