Plan for Album Cover

Plan for Album Cover

Metal Cover

-  I have researched a various amount of metal album covers and it seems that most album covers are artistic and use very interesting and sometimes violent images to make the album cover look more attractive. So I have decided that the cover will have an artistic style and will not feature any artists.

-I have also decided that the front cover will feature both the album and artists name. This is a common feature of big metal bands like Iron Maiden, so I have decided that this would be the best feature to include on the album cover. It indicates what band has mad the album and this allows the audience to locate their bands new album.

-A massive part of this genre is having the legal badge on the bottom right that says 'Parental advisory mature content', this has been used by the genre to their advantage as this makes the album more attractive to their audience as they feel rebellious by buying it.

-I also plan on using dark colors because the album covers are rarely colorful, the music is very dark and deep. So it is important to give the audience an insight into what they will be listening to using the album cover.

-I am also going to use a really unique piece of art for the front cover, like the one above the album cover tends to use a really unique piece of art to make them stand out from the crowd.

Pop Cover

-We plan on using a close-up of a boys face as its a re-occurring convention within the album covers. Most likely due to the fact that the main audience are girls. So it is vital that there is a picture of the artist.

-The background needs to be very bright and colorful as the pop star cannot be seen in anyway as being bad they need to be seen as good and heroic if anything. This is a very common feature as its a massive appeal to the female audience.

-They need to look deep and meaningful as they need to look like they are intelligent and think things through. The artist is usually portrayed as someone who can meet the parents, hes innocent.

-The artists name is usually very visible and can be seen by everyone its usually the second most important feature on the cover meaning it is very important tomake it stand out.
